Gut & digestion

Your digestion has been a problem for a long time.

Digestive symptoms are easy to normalise. People live with them for years, adjust their diet around them, and only mention them when asked directly — by which point the list is usually longer than they expected.

I’m interested in the whole list, and in when each item on it started.

Recognise any of this?

You may be experiencing…

  • Bloating that builds through the day
  • Discomfort after eating, regardless of what you ate
  • Irregular or unpredictable bowel habits
  • Reflux or a burning sensation
  • A growing list of foods you’ve learned to avoid
  • Feeling full very quickly
  • Cramping or urgency
  • Digestive symptoms that worsen under stress

You don’t need to fit neatly into a diagnostic box to deserve a proper investigation.

Where we start

What I investigate.

  • When your digestion changed, and what else changed around the same time
  • What a typical day of eating actually looks like, not what it should look like
  • Which foods you’ve cut out, and what prompted each one
  • Antibiotic history and any significant gut infections
  • Stress, sleep and the state of your nervous system
  • Bowel pattern in detail — frequency, form, urgency, timing
  • Any investigations you’ve already had, including normal ones
  • Medications and supplements, including ones taken for the gut
The crucial part

Why this often gets missed.

Digestive symptoms are often treated as a local problem — something happening in the gut, to be dealt with in the gut. But they frequently sit alongside fatigue, sleep disruption, mood changes and skin changes. Whether those things are related is exactly the question worth asking, and it takes a long consultation to ask it properly.

I investigate the whole picture, not just the loudest symptom.

What happens next

A 45-minute consultation, one to one.

Online from anywhere in Australia, or in clinic at Willow & Saige in Warrnambool. The fee is $135, the same either way. There’s nothing to prepare beyond bringing your history, any previous results you have, and your questions.

Where something in your history warrants medical investigation, I’ll tell you and refer you back to your GP. This works alongside your existing care, not instead of it.

Frequently asked

Common questions.

Can a naturopath help with gut problems?

I can take a thorough history, look at your digestive symptoms alongside everything else that’s going on, and build a plan around what we find. I can’t promise an outcome. Where your symptoms warrant medical investigation — and some do — I’ll say so directly.

I’ve already been told it’s IBS. Is that different?

Not for the purposes of the first consultation. IBS is a description of a symptom pattern rather than an explanation of it, so I’d still want the full history and the timeline.

Do I need testing before I see you?

No. Bring whatever you already have. Where further testing would genuinely change the plan, I’ll explain what and why — and what it costs — before anything is arranged.

Will you put me on an elimination diet?

Not as a reflex. Most people arriving with digestive symptoms have already removed a lot of foods, sometimes for years. I’d rather understand why each one came out before taking anything else away.

Can this be done by telehealth?

Yes. The consultation is history, questioning and pattern-finding, all of which translate fully to a video call. Most of my clients are nowhere near Warrnambool.

Ready to find out what’s really going on?

You don’t need to have all the answers before you book. That’s what the first consultation is for.
