The practitioner

Why the combination matters in practice.

Adrian holds advanced qualifications across naturopathy, herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, personal training, massage, kinesiology and Bowen therapy, on a Bachelor of Education foundation in science and physical education.

Most practitioners train deeply in one discipline. Adrian’s case for training across several is practical: complex cases often need at least three of these areas worked on at once, and a single practitioner can hold a more coherent picture than a referral chain.

A note on qualifications

Qualifications are the floor, not the ceiling.

A qualification gets you in the room. What matters after that is clinical hours, the kind of cases you’ve seen, and how willing you are to keep studying once you’re working.

Adrian’s ongoing professional development has been spent largely with practitioners working at the edge of integrative medicine, functional nutrition, herbal therapy and somatic healing. The formal qualifications below are the starting point.

Formal education and training

Education and training.

01

Bachelor of Education (Physical Education and Science)

The academic foundation of Adrian’s practice. A deep grounding in human biology, physiology, anatomy, and the science of human movement, combined with the ability to translate complex knowledge into clear, practical understanding for the people he works with. This is where the teaching instinct was formalised, and it informs every client relationship to this day.

02

Master Personal Trainer

The highest level of personal training qualification available in Australia. This credential represents mastery of exercise science, program design, body composition, movement assessment, and the psychology of behaviour change, applied to real people with real bodies and real lives.

03

Certificate IV in Massage Therapy

A clinical understanding of the musculoskeletal system, soft tissue dysfunction, and the role of hands-on bodywork in recovery, pain management, and physical rehabilitation.

Natural medicine

The clinical disciplines.

04

Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy

Naturopathy is the cornerstone of Adrian’s integrative approach: the discipline that holds the whole picture together. This advanced qualification encompasses clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, iridology, homeopathy, and the foundational naturopathic principles of treating the whole person, investigating what is contributing to their presentation, and supporting the body’s innate capacity to heal.

05

Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Medicine

A comprehensive, clinically focused qualification in the therapeutic use of plant medicine within the Western herbal tradition. Covering pharmacology, phytochemistry, and the application of herbal protocols across a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, from immune dysfunction and hormonal imbalance to nervous system support and anti-inflammatory treatment.

06

Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine

Clinical nutrition at an advanced level: the science of how food interacts with every system in the body. This qualification underpins Adrian’s ability to design precise, therapeutic nutrition strategies tailored to the individual, going far beyond general dietary advice into the biochemical and physiological detail of how nutrients heal.

07

Diploma of Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a gentle but profoundly effective bodywork modality that works on the fascia, muscles, and nervous system to release tension, restore balance, and support the body’s own healing mechanisms. Adrian integrates this where appropriate as part of a broader physical treatment approach.

08

Graduate Diploma of Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology uses muscle testing as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool, assessing structural, chemical, and emotional factors that influence health and function. This qualification adds a unique dimension to Adrian’s ability to identify and address the underlying causes of complex health presentations that standard testing often misses.

What this looks like in clinic

One practitioner across the whole case.

Most clinics route cases by specialty. A naturopath here, a nutritionist there, a PT for the training side, a psychologist or bodyworker as needed. Each clinician works inside their own scope, which is sensible, but the connections between systems often go unaddressed.

Because Adrian has trained across naturopathy, herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, personal training, bodywork and kinesiology, he can hold those connections in one program. Gut and hormones, nervous system and weight, history and current physical symptoms, these tend to be linked, and they respond better to a coordinated protocol than to several uncoordinated ones.

It’s the reason the investigation is structured the way it is.

Continuous learning

Ongoing study.

Most of Adrian’s ongoing professional development has been spent in training with practitioners working at the leading edge of integrative medicine, functional nutrition, somatic healing and mindset work. The Graduate Diploma in Psychology currently in progress is the latest step in that.

The continuing-education stack is part of what allows the clinical thinking to stay current. Cases that arrive in practice today look different from cases ten years ago, particularly on the viral, immune and nervous-system side.
